챗GPT GPT-6 사고 수준 고르기 | AI 교육 · 챗GPT 13회 · How to Choose GPT-6 and Its Thinking Level in ChatGPT

Choose GPT-6 and a thinking level in ChatGPT, and adjust the new answer screen with its tables and buttons to suit how you work.

How to Choose GPT-6 and Its Thinking Level in ChatGPT
What you'll learn today: How to choose GPT-6 and a thinking level from the model menu, and how to adjust the new answer screen, with its mix of tables and buttons, to suit the way you work.
Why You Need This
ChatGPT's screen has changed quite a bit since late September, when I wrote Lessons 1–12. Since GPT-6 came out on October 7, answers have started to include comparison tables, pictures, and buttons you can click. The official help pages call this intelligent UI. If you ask it to compare two places for a church retreat, you get a side-by-side table. But when you ask for a notice to send to older members of the church, all of this gets in the way. You can also now choose how deeply it thinks. Today we'll get comfortable with both.
Step by Step
- Open the model menu at the top of the chat window. If you're on a paid plan, you'll see GPT-6. If you had chosen Latest before, you've already been switched to GPT-6 at the same thinking level.
- Use the Thinking slider to choose how deeply it thinks. Instant gives quick answers to everyday questions, Medium is the standard level, and High thinks more deeply. According to the official help pages, Plus can use up to Medium and High, while Extra High and Pro are available on the Pro, Business, and Enterprise plans.
- Free and Go answer with the default model, and you can use Think for harder questions. In the mobile app, open the + menu and choose Think. It's still rolling out on the web.
- Ask the same question at two different levels and you'll see the difference clearly.
Compare the two places we're considering for our church's fall retreat. A: 1 hour by bus, lodging for 60, has an auditorium / B: 2 hours by bus, lodging for 80, no auditorium Lay out the pros and cons, keeping in mind that both older members and children will be going.
- If the screen has too much going on, open Settings on the web and choose Personalization → Layout and visuals → Simple. You'll see fewer visual elements, but some may stay.
- If you always want the same format, add a line like "Use a table only when comparing; write everything else in sentences" to the custom instructions you set up in Lesson 3. The official help pages also recommend this.
A higher thinking level doesn't mean it's now fine to put in church members' names or counseling details. Keep the data settings we checked in Lesson 12 just as they are.
Where People Often Get Stuck
- I don't see GPT-6. It's rolling out to paid accounts gradually, so it may not have reached your account yet. If you had chosen GPT-5.6 Sol yourself, that model stays selected. Go to the model menu and choose GPT-6 again.
- I said "Think deeply," but nothing changed. On Plus and Pro, it won't move up from Instant to a higher level on its own, even for complex questions. Asking in words won't change it either, so move the slider yourself.
- I'm not getting tables. Intelligent UI appears only in Chat, not in voice conversations or the Work tab. It also isn't used at the Pro level. If you reach your thinking usage limit, it keeps answering with a different model, and if there's a reset time, the screen will tell you.
Today's Assignment
Ask for one of this week's church announcements at Instant, and ask one question about the historical background of your sermon passage at High. Compare how long each answer took and how deep it went, and write one line for each. If the screen felt cluttered, switch to Simple and ask the same question again.
Coming Up Next
In Lesson 14, we'll use ChatGPT to make images, such as a poster for a church bazaar. We'll start from a template in the Images tab and work through changing the text and colors.
